Despite some rain Saturday, we were able to get a great start on our Critical Home Repair project on Rosslyn Avenue. We removed what remained of the front porch deck and trellis, removed a large number of overgrown bushes, cut down several trees, broke up an old set of concrete steps and scraped loose and cracked paint off the wood siding, soffits and fascia. See
http://www.hilliardhabitat.org/Rosslyn/ for some photos from the day.
We will continue the project this week on Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday we will continue to scrap loose and cracked paint off the wood siding, soffits and fascia, begin caulking the areas where we have finished scraping, and address a few minor repair issues with fascia and siding. On Saturday we will build a new set of steps, remove another tree and perhaps some bushes, continue with minor repairs and caulking, and, hopefully, begin painting.
If you can join us on Wednesday, please let Bonnie know by Tuesday morning. If you can join us on Saturday, please let Bonnie know Thursday morning. She can be reached at
stbrendanhabitat@gmail.com. Please bring your own lunch on either work day and should wear work clothes on which you don’t mind getting a little paint.
Thanks in advance for your help!
